HAPPY NEW YEAR, FIRST OF all- may we who had a good year remember it fondly, and for those who didn't, time to lick wounds..

Aimee and I renewed our lease for 6 months, which puts us thru the summer- a much better time to move. Will she stay the entire lease? With her, it's hard to tell. She doesn't know where she's going to be a week from now- I guess I can't either. But our home life is very buena. We "git'lon" well.. It is kind of nice to have an emotional meltdown in front of your roomate and have absolutely no reason to apologise or explain yourself the next morning.. we're therapeutic for eachother in some ways, which is good, because we don't get out so much.

Meanwhile, life goes on.. My crystal ball predictions for the coming year (which some people liked, altho one must judge how accurate I was, heh) is just an extrapolation of something already observed-

some out there may have mastery over the 137 apps on their I Phone, but no fucking clue on how to reign in their 3 year old. Some can't find their way out of their block without a GPS murmuring to them in their ride. Some can Twitter like a 13 year-old but can't even talk to their office mates* an congregate or solve simple issues.

I guess I'm getting at how this society is bifurcating itself at such a rate that eventually simple communication will be a sort of foreign thing. Maybe we'll all just text eachother from five feet away because we can't read body language anymore.

Wow, I'm sounding old and in the way. I dunno.

for me personally, renewed vigor for getting my writings read/heard by more than just a few. I am an inertia person (thank you Monica for that prescient observation all those years ago) so when I get the thing going, it will be slice of cake, piece of pie.

I wish to anyone reading this, and the populace at Large a favorable, blessed year. Just remember to smell it before you eat it.

*I do concede that sometimes you have absolutely no reason to talk to co-workers..
As promised, here’s more photos of the beautiful old theater in Birmingham, Alabama I posted before. Part of the reason I got to shoot inside The Lyric Theatre was to compare and contrast the condition of the Lyric, versus the condition of the fully restored Alabama Theatre across the street. The folks who own The Alabama also own The Lyric and due to some personal and professional connections, I had free run of both buildings to shoot over nearly six hours. Obviously this gave me and two other photographers/explorers time to see things that many folks would never notice on a causal tour. It also resulted in 400+ photos just from my camera. Thus said, I’m going to be posting these images for some time to come.
